Week 5 - Scones

Your mission if you choose to accept it is to work as a team to produce Scones as per usual we will be working against the clock and have therefore got about 20 mins to get the mixture ready to go into the oven. Your team will be marked in three areas, teamwork, resource management and presentation. Below is the ingredients you will need, (do not take more than you need!) And also the instructions. Follow them carefully. And most of all have fun

Ingredients:

  1. 5 cups of flour
  2. 3 tbs. of sugar
  3. 3 tsp. of baking powder
  4. 3 heaped tbs. of margarine
  5. ¾ cups of sultanas
  6. add milk to mix

Instructions:

  1. wash hands
  2. put flour, sugar, baking powder in bowl
  3. add margarine and mix with fingertips to fine crumb
  4. add sultanas and mix together
  5. make “a well” in middle and add ¼ pint of milk
  6. stir with knife from edges in to middle
  7. if needed + more milk (dont get the dough too wet)
  8. sprinkle flour on top table top
  9. using the hands kneed dough on the table top
  10. roll out with pin (to about 1 inch high) all round
  11. cut with instruments and lay out of baking tray
  12. brush a little milk on top of scone with brush
  13. bake on top shelf Gas mark 6 for 10 - 15 mins
